Pune: Mastercard has officially opened a new state-of-the-art Technology Hub in Pune, India, further cementing its presence in the country and reinforcing its global technology infrastructure.

This new facility, located in Yerawada’s Bluegrass Business Park, spans nearly half a million square meters and will house more than 6,000 employees, making it Mastercard’s largest workforce in a single city globally.

The Pune Tech Hub is a key part of Mastercard’s international network of technology centers, which also includes hubs in New York, Dublin, Sydney, St. Louis, Vancouver, and Arlington.

The hub is designed to enhance the company’s efforts in areas such as payment security, cybersecurity, fraud detection, and digital identity, not only in India but also on a global scale.

Ed McLaughlin, Mastercard’s President and Chief Technology Officer, commented on the occasion, stating, “The new Pune Tech Hub will be a cornerstone of Mastercard’s global technology operations. It will play a critical role in developing innovative technologies that power economies and facilitate secure, seamless payments around the world.”

Mastercard’s expansion into Pune aligns with its long-term commitment to supporting India’s digital ecosystem, a relationship that dates back over 40 years.

The company’s first Indian Tech Hub was established in Pune in 2014, and over the years, it has grown substantially, contributing to both local economic development and the company’s global operations.

The Pune facility will also contribute to India’s “Viksit Bharat” vision, which seeks to transform the nation into a developed economy by 2047.

Mastercard’s initiatives such as Community Pass and Payment Passkey are already supporting the government’s efforts in financial inclusion and digital security.

Gautam Aggarwal, Division President of South Asia at Mastercard, emphasized the significance of India as a strategic market, stating, “Our new Tech Hub in Pune underscores Mastercard’s ongoing investment in India’s digital economy and our commitment to driving technological advancements that will support India’s digitization goals.”

The new facility is designed with sustainability at its core and has achieved the prestigious TRUE Platinum certification for construction, making it one of Mastercard’s most environmentally responsible offices globally.

The Tech Hub features a range of modern amenities, including collaborative workspaces, wellness areas, and design themes inspired by India’s rich cultural and natural heritage.

Mastercard’s growing presence in India now includes offices in cities such as Gurugram, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Vadodara, with the Pune Tech Hub representing a significant step in the company’s plans for future growth and innovation in the country.
