This year will witness the Bollywood debut of two former beauty queens. While Manushi Chhillar will seen in Prithviraj Chauhan, Aditi Arya will play an important part in Kabir Khan’s 83. The film, which highlights Indian cricket team’s 1983 World Cup win, stars an ensemble cast of Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk and others.

Aditi plays the role of Inderjit Bhardwaj, Mohinder Amarnath’s (portrayed by Saqib Saleem) wife. She says that though the film revolves around these men but somewhere they had great support from their personal life.

“Inderjit was quite established person herself because she was studying to be a doctor and was already staying in London. My look has been designed accordingly,” says Aditi.

She can’t stop gushing about the time they shot the film in London and says that the schedule was more like a campus. “We were like a group of people who were just passionate about this film knowing that it’s going to be one of the most impactful projects of career. We have put our heart and soul into it but we also made sure that we were living every moment,” she adds.

Aditi calls her on screen hubby funny and says that he has a great sense of humour.

While she has played the lead in her South Indian projects, she choose a cameo as her Bollywood debut. “Even though it’s a small part but I am honoured to work in the film because it’s an emotional decision to do the film. Rather than thinking about how big or established my character is, I just thought about being part of it. It was plain intuition that told me that I have do this film,” she says, adding, “Usually, when I analyse Hindi projects, the every thought has stopped me from making her debut so far. I have been offered role since I won Miss India in 2015. It might not be a classic launch, the way one imagines but it’s better than me.”

She adds that even if she doesn’t get credit for the role, nothing will match the experience of working with a team like 83, which is releasing later this year.

Her web film, a techie-horror flicktitled Unlock-the Haunted App has started streaming from March 13. The Zee5 original short film also stars Hina Khan and Kushal Tandon. The actress has been associated with OTT platform and her performance in Tantra and Spotlight 2, has been appreciated. She says that she has also shot for Sumer Singh Diaries, which is into the thriller space.

She was always busy with her projects down South including Ravi Chandra. The film is inspired by the Telugu flick Balapu, has Ravichandra and Upendra playing on screen brothers. Aditi says that working in South has been interesting in it’s own way even though she doesn’t understand the language. “You still feel at home because they are both professional and caring. I have worked in the Telugu and Kannada industry and while culture might be slightly different but it’s fun.”

Is it a hurdle specially while emoting, when you do not understand the language and Aditi says, “Not really. Before you step into it, that’s when it feels scary because you feel certain doubts. I have noticed that when you are nervous, you screw it up even further. Half the battle is won with your confidence and other half with your skills. As long as you cultivate your skills, it does not interfere with your work.”

How is dividing her time between different mediums and industry and she says that a fair amount of discipline helps. “I like to work and haven’t been on a vacation for a long time but my work feels like vacation. I don’t need to have fun separately,” she says before signing off.
