A little more than a month marked the second anniversary of the Section 377 judgment. However, there's still a long way to go for truly rejoicing before the LGBTQIA community finds itself a safe-space in the country. The vibrant, pompous festivities at the pride-walk may seem like a celebration, but a closer look into their every day lives may, probably, allow us a glimpse into what they have to undergo. Keeping the message in mind, Gulshan Jethwani's Pyaar Hai Na brings a fresh, contemporary twist to the conventional 'love songs' of today. The Bridge Chronicle talks to him to know more about his new single, that paints a heartwarming love story for its listeners.

1) Could you tell us a little about your background in music? Did you always want to be a musician?

A: I come from a family in which everybody is a businessman, and I was the only one who left home for further studies. It was a little difficult at that time to make them understand that there is a field like 'mass communication'. At the age of 16, I was very keen on learning the guitar after listening to bands like Jal, Reath, Strings, and Lucky Ali. Once I got my very own guitar, that's when my musical journey began and there was no looking back. I am always grateful for my musician friends who have always supported me. Today I am a full-time musician and en route composing my own songs.

2) Pyaar Hai Na sends out a strong message to the public, which prompted you as an artist to come up with a song about the same?

A: As an artist, I do a lot of gigs around India and meet all sorts of people, I also happen to have friends who belong to the LGBTQ community. I find it absolutely natural, but there are several out there who refuse to see it that way. I wanted to share my view, or my affection, towards the LGBTQ community, and so, I decided to share it through a song that talks about how love... is just love!

3) Will we be seeing more impactful songs/songs with messages from you in the future?

A: Yes, you will. A lot is happening around us either on social media or around our environment, which needs a lot of love. I feel with my songs I can reach out to many. Music is something that makes you miss a person, love a person and so much more. Can't reveal much but my upcoming EP (Extended Play) is all about toxic relationships that so many of us have sailed through or still sailing in.
