One of the difficult shoots was the schedule of Tumbbad. Makers chose to shoot in the real Tumbbad village. Additionally, they had to shoot only in monsoon as the script required shooting in constant rains. The entire team always used to be on standby for the rains. 

A source close to production says,“Most of the elements including locations, rains, lights, temples, streets and surroundings were kept real, so the makers had to cope up with many difficulties. They showed immense patience. The audience will see and feel all the efforts put in for the cinema, in the theatres.”

Crackling thunder and lightning coupled with incessant rains, hauntingly-deserted temples, stone-walls and a play of light and darkness in almost every frame, form the cryptic message of human greed that the film’s producers say form the crux of Tumbbad.
 
Set in colonial India, the film is a non-liner narrative with fantasy elements and a lush, stylised look. The project will be presented by Eros International and Aanand L Rai presentation, and will be jointly bankrolled by Little Town Films production in association with Colour Yellow Productions. 

Tumbbad, starring Sohum Shah in the lead role, is set to release in India on October 12 in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.
