Ajay Devgn starts shooting for Bhansali's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'; reunite after 22 years

Gangubai Kathiawadi's teaser dropped a few days earlier and the excitement among Alia Bhatt's fans continues to rise as Ajay Devgn joins the cast.

On Saturday, Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn started shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. If reports are to be believed Devgn will be making repeated cameo appearances as Karim Lala.

A picture of the actor from the set is doing the rounds all through the day. In the image, Ajay is seen reading the script and Bhansali stands next to him. The duo has reunited after 22 years after they worked together in the 1999 blockbuster Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Devgn took to Twitter to share his excitement of working with Bhansali again, and wrote, “Back on Sanjay’s set after two decades; feels good!(sic)”

Gangubai Kathiawadi stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role. This is the first time that Bhansali is directing Alia. The film is Bhansali's 10th directorial and is scheduled to hit the cinema halls on July 30 this year. According to the reports, the movie also stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Emraan Hashmi, and Huma Qureshi, among others.

The story revolves around the life of Gangubai Kothewali, the madam of a brothel in Kamathipura, and is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi's book Mafia Queens of Mumbai.
