The ‘Special Ops’ thriller series, which was released last year on Disney Hotstar, is all set to make a comeback. This time, on Special Ops 1.5, the audience will witness the back story of their favourite agent, Himmat Singh.

Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey has decided to explore stories of the characters seen in the first season of the series. Rather than doing a conventional follow-up season to a well-appreciated series, he decided to take an unconventional course for the ‘Special Ops’ franchise. Pandey further informed that the franchise would be a multi-series format, with actor Kay Kay Menon returning as agent Himmat Singh.

"The route that we have taken with Special Ops is that it will be a franchise. But rather than, going into the typical season two format, or season three format, (we thought) let's do something more exciting, which is how the idea of Special Ops 1.5 came about, where we go back in time. We go to the year 2001," Pandey told IANS.

Earlier this month, Menon took to Instagram to unveil the poster of Special Ops 1.5 – The Himmat Story.

Special Ops 1.5 is set "in the aftermath of Parliament attacks," Pandey informs, adding that the story explores "what happened in the next few months with Himmat Singh, the character portrayed by Kay Kay (Menon)."

"So, Special Ops 1.5 is called the Himmat story. It is essentially about the incident and the case that shaped Himmat Singh as an individual and as an officer. So, that's what we're talking about. So (we have) three episodes of 45-50 minutes each. So, yes, (It is) a (season) 1.5 rather than the conventional two," he added.

Earlier this week, a few reports suggested that the next installment of the series will have another interesting addition to the cast - Aftab Shivdasani.
