Good news for the fans of Scam 1992 – Season 2 is in the pipeline. On Thursday, the makers of the web series took to Twitter to announce the new season. The second season of the show will feature the 2003 stamp paper scam by Abdul Karim Telgi.

Currently streaming, Scam of 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story has received great reviews and made ardent fans among its viewers. Under Hansal Mehta’s direction, the series has left the audience thoroughly entertained and wanting more. Among hopefulness, the announcement of a season 2 is much-welcomed.

Tentatively titled Scam 2003: The Curious Case of Abdul Karim Telgi, the show will be adapted from the Hindi book Reporter ki Diary authored by journalist and news reporter Sanjay Singh, credited with breaking the story of the scam back in the time.

Who was Abdul Karim Telgi?

Abdul Karim Telgi was born in Khanapur in Karnataka. He was the mastermind of one of India’s most innovative scams that was spread across various states of the country. It’s estimated that the scam - printing counterfeit stamp paper - value was allegedly around Rs 20,000 crore. According to reports, Telgi’s counterfeiting career was initially about fake passports. He later shifted to a more complex process and hired 350 people as agents who sold the fakes to concerned parties.

Who is playing who?

Kiran Yadnyopavit, a popular writer of Marathi films has been roped in to write and develop the story along with author Sanjay Singh. While the filming will begin later this year, it will be streamed in 2022 on Sony LIV.
