Talking to The Bridge Chronicle, the actress revealed how she has emerged a winner with things changing for ‘good’ in other spheres of her life, as well. She also spoke about her co-contestants, her marriage, and the challenges she faced in the house.
Whom would you credit your Bigg Boss 14 win to?
One and only person that I want to credit my win to is - my patidev, Abhinav!
In one of your interviews, you mentioned that you didn’t exactly know what the show was about. What is your perception about the show now, after being there for over four months?
Yes, I did mention that I did not know exactly [what] was the format of the show, but now with utmost clarity and confidence, I can tell you that this show is about your strength - mental and emotional strength - and how well you can handle yourself in the situations that arise in circumstances that are thrown towards you. So it’s all about testing yourself in a way that... our normal life we would not have. It is a show about proving your mettle.
How has life changed for you after being in the house?
After Bigg Boss, I would say life has changed for good. Though we [Abhinav and I have] not been able to, you know, sit and look at our graph [of] how things have changed for us, but on a mental and emotional level, I can say that I have become stronger. Our interpersonal relationship has seen the light of the day. We have grown [have a] better understanding of our relationship. So there are a lot many aspects that have changed for good and these are the specific and broader perspective that we are giving you.
What would you miss the most in the Bigg Boss house?
I am going to miss the voice of Bigg Boss, ‘Bigg Boss chahte hain!’ I’ve become a fan of it and honestly, that voice used to brighten up my day, so I [will] miss that.
What was your biggest challenge on the show?
The biggest challenge, on the show, for me was - how in a situation I would be able to instinctively control myself when any harm was inflicted on Abhinav. Because it’s a natural reaction from [me], but I had to hold myself [back] so [that] he could take on his fight - as he fought for himself or as he stood by himself opinions and thoughts - and how people just attacked him or maybe verbally accused him. So to remain calm in those situations was [one of] the most challenging things in the house.
How do you think your relationship would change with other members of the Bigg Boss house – Rahul Vaidya, Jasmin Bhasin, and Rakhi Sawant - after the end of the show?
About my relations with Rahul, Jasmin and Rakhi, I would say have forgiven them. Whatever turmoil our relationships saw, or our equations saw, I have let go of them and I have cleared that thing out specifically with Rahul, Jasmin, and for that matter, Rakhi [too]. I said that ‘you know I am moving out with a clean slate, now whenever we meet outside it will be a fresh start.’
The nation saw you talk about the issues in your marriage, but we also saw how you overcame those, eventually. How’s the married-life now and what are your plans here on?
Yes, I mean I did talk about the issues in my marriage and I just, you know, opened up on national TV about all the challenges that we were going through. I am [now] convinced and proud of the fact I have been able to embrace that phase of my life and, now, things are turning around for a greater good. And honestly, we have not been able to find the time to plan out things ahead, but definitely, there are great plans around the corner.
During the lockdown, the country witnessed a lot of changes in family dynamics, majorly because couples started living together 24*7 - something very similar to what happened with you and Abhinav in Bigg Boss. Firstly, what would you have done differently during those initial times, and secondly, what is your advice to many other couples who are still living in lockdown and working from home?
I think the only best advice I can give, or I would’ve done - that I majorly failed during the lockdown - was communication! So to all the people who were or are struggling, especially couples... during this COVID time [when] we were refrained to four walls and restricted to our homes... I think communication is the key. Communicate with your purest of intention. Communication is the only key to a better relationship and that’s all I can say because it just covers up everything. If you have clear communication you can tell your partner about your expectations. If you have clear communication you can let your partner know what things hurt and things [that] let you down. If you have a heart-to-heart you [will be] able to reach out to the other person with empathy. There is a lot of patience you can develop, so communication is the key. Please improve your communication, find different ways to communicate... Express your love! It is very, very important. And never take your partner for granted, even for a single day.
After your Bigg Boss 14 win, what are your future plans – in terms of the various projects?
Future plans as of now, I mean, nothing. Because I am neck deep into media interactions, talking to people, connecting to my fans, and interviews. I think on a greater scale I want to connect with people. So no as of now, there is nothing in the pipeline.
