Kangana Ranaut's much anticipated movie Thalaivi is all set to release in theatres on April 23

Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut's much anticipated movie Thalaivi is all set to release in theatres on April 23. The filmmakers made the announcement on Wednesday, on the occasion of the 73rd birth anniversary of actress-turned-politician J Jayalalithaa, whose life is depicted in the movie.

Kangana Ranaut also on her Twitter handle wrote: "To Jaya Amma, on her birthanniversary. Witness the story of the legend, #Thalaivi, in cinemas on 23rd April, 2021."

The Kangana-starrer will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Apart from Kangana, it also features Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Madhoo and Bhagyashree in key roles while the film is directed by AL Vijay.

The movie will depict the life of late former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, from her rise in the world of films as an actress to becoming an influential politician. According to multiple reports, for the role, Kangana is said to have gained 20 kgs and undergone body transformation.

Apart from Thalaivi, Kangana on her workfront has multiple movies. Her next will be ‘Dhaakad’ where she will be playing the role of a spy named Agent Agni. The movie also has Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta. Kangana will be seen in ‘Tejas’ where she will playing a character of an Air Force pilot.
