This week seems to be a week for trailer releases. While the trailer of Pagglait was released earlier this week, Abhishek Bachchan’s The Big Bull’s trailer also released on Friday.

Set in the 80s and 90s, The Big Bull trailer takes the fans through Mumbai when it was Bombay. The story traces the life of stockbroker Harshad Mehta. Renamed as Hemant Shah in the film, Abhishek plays the lead in this rather fascinating movie.

The actor took to Twitter to share the release of his upcoming movie, and wrote, “This was not just a scam, it was the #MotherOfAllScams!(sic)”.

Even though many found the trailer engaging and entertaining, many were quick to draw similarities between Bachchan junior’s movie and Hansal Mehta’s critically-acclaimed show, 1992 Scam: The Harshad Mehta Story. Mehta’s web series came at the peak of the pandemic amid lockdown and quickly became one of the most-talked-about web series. Both the movie and the series are broadly based on Harshad Mehta's dramatic rise and his inevitable fall.

On Friday, after the netizens started drawing comparisons between the two individual projects, the filmmaker finally spoke up. Mehta took to Twitter to make his case and wrote, "Please don't make unfair comparisons. There can be multiple tales on the same story. Every story-teller will have his own way and should be seen independent of the other. This film has so many talents involved just like my show. They've done their best and they deserve your love."

"And very intriguing trailer with such phenomenal actors. You are in great form @juniorbachchan. More power to the entire team of #TheBigBull on @DisneyPlusHS," he added.

Mehta's tweet came in response to a user who commented on Ajay Devgn's tweet saying: "Appreciate efforts bt not the standard of @mehtahansal and @pratikg80 's #Scam1992 .... Baap of all web series."

Actor Pratik Gandhi who played Harshad Mehta in the web series also took to the microblogging platform and said, “Congratulations @juniorbachchan and the whole team of #TheBigBull. The trailer looks promising. Looking forward to watch the film. (sic)”.

Along with Abhishek, who is playing the lead, actors Ileana D’Cruz, Nikita Dutta and Sohum Shah, are also starring in the movie. The Big Bull is directed by Kookie Gulati and is slated to drop digitally on DisneyPlus Hotstar on April 8.
