We Idliwale has had modest beginnings, transitioning from a modest set-up in 2019 to three successful outposts post-pandemic. Pune has since been in love with everything the restaurant has to offer - from cloud-soft idli with chicken to pepper prawn dosa alike.

With branches located in Viman Nagar, Baner Biz Bay, and NIBM road, The brand has been a fan favorite, with its distinguishing feature being overturning the concept of mundane South Indian staples in Pune. The restaurant offers a vibrant range of dishes, breaking the stereotype of dosa and idli as the flagbearers of South Indian cuisine.

The curations are a contemporary, indulgent take on all your favorite food. The menu embarks on a culinary pilgrimage through the diverse regions of the South, gathering classic dishes, essential provisions, innovative concepts, and contemporary culinary refinements. Take for example their curation of Podi Bacon - a culinary classic of Karanataka paired seamlessly with the richness of bacon. Within small portions, their Podi Sausages are a piquant twist to the mundane staple. The dish offers a sense of succulence and satisfaction, leaving you coming back for more.

With the latest venture in their successful chain, We Idliwale Barroom, they are redefining classic cocktails and bar snacks alike. The new addition draws from the classic Bengaluru bar culture, with a twist of contemporary times. They have fused toddy shop culture with a sense of modernity with their servings of Prawn fry, Mutton Pepper Fry, and Chettinad Chicken. However, what is modern is not the dishes but the ambiance and the set-up; the dishes stay true to their spicy descendants, retaining their spicy heritage packed with a hearty goodness of flavor.

The cocktails are 'ingredient-driven', borrowing from the richness of the south Indian spices like turmeric, gunpowder, podi, and so on. They have a nonchalant aura of their own, away from the fancy features of dry ice, smoke, and grand gestures. The cocktails are pungent, and exotic and offer an authentic and unpretentious take to the whole atmosphere. They have elevated the mood of the restaurant to accommodate a rather elegant aesthetic for a more contemporary approach to the richness of authentic cuisine.

Their curated assortment of Appams and stews offers a nostalgic experience, while the effortless atmosphere ties in with the overall impression. When visiting, we strongly recommend trying their filter coffee to fall in love with the Arabica flavor and the subtle punch of caffeine.

The experience is best enjoyed with friends, family, or just about anyone who enjoys South Indian cuisine, wrapped in thoughtful bundles of flavor and innovation.

We recommend booking a table before visiting. You may do so by reaching out to them on Instagram or 1800 267 9833. They are operational every day from 12 pm to 1.30 am. The meal will cost you roughly 2500 rupees for two people with drinks.
