As India faces a brutal COVID-19 second wave, reporting more than a lakh case per day, several countries across the world have imposed travel restrictions or have put India on the travel ban list. Many countries are also restricting the number of flights to/from India. On April 20, The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a travel advisory for all its citizens to avoid travels to India.

"Travelers should avoid all travel to India because of the current situation in India even fully vaccinated travellers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants and should avoid all travel to India,” the advisory said.

With more countries expected to red list India in the coming days due to escalating number of these Coronavirus cases, here is the list of countries that have already imposed a travel advisory, severe restriction or a blanket travel ban on India.

Singapore

Singapore has announced a fresh set of safety measures especially for travellers from India. Now people travelling from India to Singapore will serve a 21-day quarantine period with additional seven days stay-at-home notice apart from the usual mandatory 14 days quarantine at a dedicated facility.

"From 11.59 pm on Thursday, all travellers from India will also have to serve an additional seven-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) at their place of residence, following the usual 14-day SHN at a dedicated facility," a statement by Singapore's Ministry of Health

The UK put India on the “red list” of countries affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. From April 23 onwards, UK residents arriving from India will have to quarantine in a hotel for 11 nights. United States

The US has asked all its citizens to avoid travelling to India. It has put India in the 'Level 4' category which says 'Very High Level of Covid-19 in India’.

UAE

The UAE has banned travel from India for 10 days from Sunday, 25 April, due to the worsening COVID-19 situation in the country.

The travel ban will come into effect from 11.59 pm on Saturday, April 24, and is subject to review after 10 days, the Gulf News reported.

Passengers who have transited through India in the last 14 days will also not be permitted to board from any other point to the UAE, the report said.
