Absence of Local Aadhaar Center in Old Sangvi Causes Hardships for Residents

Pune: Residents of Old Sangvi are struggling to access essential government services due to the absence of a local Aadhaar center. They are forced to travel to nearby Pimple Gurav, leading to overcrowding at Aadhaar centers there.

Aadhaar has become crucial for enrolling in various government schemes, including the popular "Ladki Bahin Yojana," as well as for school and college documentation. With the Aadhaar card being mandatory for these services, local citizens are facing significant delays.

The recent launch of the Ladki Bahin Yojana has prompted a surge in demand for Aadhaar updates, as many beneficiaries need to link their Aadhaar cards with their bank accounts due to incomplete Know Your Customer (KYC) details.

This has led to long lines and continuous crowds at Pimple Gurav and other nearby centers, where residents from Old Sangvi have been visiting for the past few months.

The situation has escalated to the point where residents are now demanding the establishment of an Aadhaar center in Old Sangvi to alleviate the burden on other areas.

"There needs to be proper infrastructure for Aadhaar updates at government offices, post offices, banks, and schools.

With no local center, citizens are being forced to travel elsewhere, causing unnecessary hardship," said Ranjana More, President of the Matrubhoomi Women’s Savings Group.

Trupti Kamble, President of Arambh Mahila Pratishthan, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the difficulties faced by tenants in particular.

"Tenants often need to update their address, phone number, and other details. Therefore, each locality must have a permanent Aadhaar center to cater to their needs."
