Additional CISF Troops Arrive in Pune for New Airport Terminal Opening

Pune: Following approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs, additional troops from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have begun arriving in Pune.

On Thursday, July 4, approximately 55 troops arrived at Pune Airport and have been temporarily stationed at the old terminal. The remaining troops are expected to arrive within the next two to three days, with the airport administration anticipating the new terminal will open to passengers by July 10 or 11.

The new terminal at Pune Airport was inaugurated around four months ago, but passenger services have yet to commence, causing dissatisfaction among travelers. Earlier, approval had been obtained from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and for the F&B services at the new terminal.

The deployment of 241 CISF troops was required for the new terminal to become operational, a proposal that has now been approved. Civil Aviation Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol's efforts expedited the process.

With the arrival of CISF troops starting Thursday, the airport administration has begun accommodating them in barracks. Once all 241 troops are in place, they will be assigned to the new terminal.

Increased Efficiency:

Currently, 450 CISF troops are stationed at the old terminal for passenger security. The new terminal is larger, expecting an increase in both aircraft and passenger traffic.

Therefore, the airport administration had requested an increase in CISF personnel, which has now been approved, bringing the total number of troops at the airport to 691.

The increased number of troops will enhance the efficiency of check-in and security check-in processes.

"We had requested additional CISF troops for the new terminal, and this request has been approved. Troops have now started arriving in Pune for their deployment," said Santosh Dhoke, Pune Airport Director.
