Pune: In a heartwarming act of support, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has come to the aid of Somnath Khalate, a 48-year-old man from Kambleshwar in Baramati, who was severely injured in a road accident.

Somnath, already disabled due to polio and a survivor of three heart angioplasties, suffered a fractured leg in the accident.

The Khalate family was in a dilemma about how to afford the necessary medical treatment (surgery) for the injured Somnath due to their extremely poor financial situation.

Upon learning about this, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar intervened, and arrangements for the treatment were quickly made. Not only that, but Ajit Pawar also personally covered the cost of the surgery, bringing relief to the Khalate family.

The accident occurred on the Kambleshwar-Sangvi road on Tuesday (20th), where Somnath Khalate's already disabled leg was fractured. Relatives immediately admitted Somnath to Dr. Prashant Mane's hospital in Baramati for further treatment.

Medical tests revealed that surgery on Somnath's leg was urgently needed. Given the family's dire financial condition, the Khalate family was deeply distressed by the accident. Somnath's wife, Ambika, sought financial help but was largely unsuccessful.

Activist D.D. Jagtap brought the family's situation to the attention of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who swiftly arranged for Somnath's treatment and covered the cost of the surgery.

Dr. Mane stated, "Somnath Khalate's health was already a concern, and now surgery on his leg has become necessary. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has taken responsibility for the patient's treatment, and the surgery is planned for the next two days."

During this time, D.D. Jagtap contacted Ajit Pawar via mobile, and Pawar provided support to the distressed family. It was also reported that former Milk Union President Nitin Attole and Mahesh Kedari extended their help as well.

"Ajit Dada Eased Our Pain"

"My husband, Somnathrao, has been plagued by health issues for many years, and this accident nearly broke our family. But Ajit Dada appeared as a guardian angel, and he helped ease our pain," said Ambika Khalate.
