Alandi Orphanage Caretaker Arrested for Sexual Assault on 12-Year-Old Boy

Pune: A caretaker at a residential home for orphaned children in Alandi has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy. The incident occurred early on Saturday (August 17) morning around 5 AM.

The suspect has been identified as Venkatesh Kashinath Malnoor. He has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The arrest was made following a complaint filed by the victim, a 12-year-old boy.

According to the police, the incident took place at a facility in Alandi that houses orphaned children and student devotees.

The victim, who lost his mother and was placed in the institution by the Child Welfare Committee, was allegedly assaulted by the caretaker in the TV room after being awakened and taken there.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivaji Pawar visited the scene, which is part of a building that includes multiple institutions, raising concerns about the safety of other children. Further investigation is underway.
