Amnesty Scheme: Three Days Left to Apply for Reduced Stamp Duty

Amnesty Scheme offers citizens an opportunity to rectify their stamp duty payments without incurring additional penalties.

Pune: The state government has extended the second phase of the Amnesty Scheme for those who paid less stamp duty on document registrations between 1980 and 2020, giving citizens until September 30 to correct any discrepancies.

As the deadline approaches, only three days remain for eligible citizens to apply and benefit from this scheme.

The extension of this scheme comes in response to increasing demand from citizens facing issues with underpaid stamp duty during property registrations over the past four decades.

The scheme specifically targets individuals who purchased flats between 1980 and 2020 but either paid insufficient stamp duty, executed a sale agreement on a ₹10 stamp paper without proper registration, or paid stamp duty based solely on the declared value rather than the actual market rate.

The state government’s Amnesty Scheme offers these citizens an opportunity to rectify their stamp duty payments without incurring additional penalties. This initiative aims to address and resolve long-standing registration issues that have affected thousands of property owners across the state.

Application Process and Locations:

The Registration and Stamp Duty Department has facilitated the application process by making forms available on its official website.

Citizens can submit their applications at the Sub-Registrar Offices for any type of document. Specific offices have been designated for processing applications related to documents previously submitted for registration.

For residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad, special desks have been set up at Siddhi Tower, Wing One, First Floor, Dapodi, Haveli No. 17 and 25, where applications will be accepted.

These special arrangements are intended to streamline the process and ensure that all eligible applicants can avail of the scheme benefits within the remaining days.
