Pune: In a major development regarding the Vanraj Andekar murder case, police revealed that the accused had conspired and executed the brutal murder using weapons sourced from outside the state and district.

This information was presented by the investigating authorities before the court. So far, 16 individuals have been arrested, with three minors taken into custody. In addition, four more suspects have been charged.

On Monday (September 9), Prakash Laxman Komkar, Sanjeevani Jayant Komkar, Somnath Sayaji Gaikwad, Jayant Laxman Komkar, and Ganesh Laxman Komkar were produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Amrit Birajdar as their initial custody term was ending. The court extended their police custody until September 12 for further investigation.

During the investigation, two pistols and 10 live cartridges were seized from Akash Mhaske, while two more pistols were found in the possession of Tushar Kadam.

Additionally, a DVR from a CCTV camera at the crime scene was secured in the presence of cyber experts. The police also informed the court that sections 49 (instigating a crime), 54 (providing shelter), and 109 (attempted murder) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita have been added to the list of charges.

On Sunday (8th), another suspect, Sangam Waghmare, was arrested due to his active involvement in the crime. The investigation revealed that the weapons used in the murder were brought from other states.

The police are working to determine the exact source of these weapons and whether any additional individuals aided in procuring them. The police have seized the accused's mobile phones for technical analysis and are actively searching for absconding suspects.

The prosecution, led by Public Prosecutor Yogesh Kadam, argued for the extension of the accused's police custody, stating that a combined interrogation of the accused is necessary to uncover further details about the murder conspiracy.
