Pune: A juvenile, in a fit of rage after being taunted by neighbors for not working, vandalized ten to twelve vehicles under the influence of alcohol in the Maharshi Nagar area of Gultekdi.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (July 10) early morning, prompting the Swargate police to take the minor into custody. The boy admitted to the police that he acted out of anger after being taunted for his unemployment.

The incident took place in front of Crescent High School in Maharshi Nagar, where ten to twelve vehicles were parked. In the early hours of Wednesday, the juvenile went on a rampage, breaking windows of vehicles, including tempos and two-wheelers.

The sound of shattering glass woke up residents, who rushed to the scene and found the boy smashing the vehicles with a stick.

Residents immediately informed the police control room. The Swargate police arrived at the scene and detained the minor. Upon questioning, it was revealed that the boy was unemployed and often faced taunts from his neighbors.

In a state of anger, he consumed alcohol on Tuesday (July 9) night and subsequently vandalized the vehicles early in the morning, according to the police.

For the past few months, gang-related terror incitement incidents in the Hadapsar area have also been increasing. About a month ago, a gang threatened and vandalized local shops in this area.

A recent incident involved a gang brandishing hatchets and vandalizing vehicles in the Sanket Vihar Society area. The gang began shouting and hurling abuses at the residents, followed by smashing vehicle windows with hatchets. These acts of vandalism have left the residents living in fear.
