Pune: A shocking incident has emerged from Raviwar Peth, where jewelry valued at ₹32 lakh was stolen from the Shrikrishna Goldsmith shop. The theft was committed by two artisans who were employed at the shop and has prompted the Faraskhana police to register a case against them.

Asit Poria, the owner of the Shrikrishna Goldsmith shop, reported the theft after discovering the absence of the artisans, Amit Pal and Mukesh Pankira.

Both artisans had been tasked with creating 33 mangalsutras for a prominent goldsmith in the area. Poria, a well-respected figure in the local jewelry market, received the gold for this project from a renowned goldsmith.

Each night, Poria would meticulously measure the gold after the day’s work was done. The artisans were provided with accommodation at the shop, which made their actions all the more surprising.

Upon noticing that Pal and Pankira were missing, Poria conducted a thorough check of the premises, only to find that the gold kept in a designated container had been stolen.

Following this alarming discovery, Poria initiated an inquiry and quickly realized that the artisans had absconded with the gold. He wasted no time in filing a complaint with the police, leading to an official investigation.

This incident has raised concerns in the community, as there have been prior reports of similar thefts involving artisans in the goldsmith shop. The Faraskhana police are currently pursuing leads to apprehend the fleeing artisans and recover the stolen jewelry.
