Pune: Arunkumar Devnath Singh, who is currently on the run in connection with a blood-swapping scandal involving a Porsche car accident in Kalyaninagar, has applied for anticipatory bail in the Sessions Court.

The incident, which led to the death of two software engineers, involved a minor driving the car under the influence of alcohol, along with two of his friends who had also been drinking.

In a bid to protect the minor's friends, Arunkumar Singh, along with another accused, allegedly swapped their blood samples for those of the minor's friends to falsify the alcohol test results.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Aditya Avinash Sood (age 52, resident of Sopan Society, BT Kawade Road, Ghorpadi) and Ashish Satish Mittal (age 39, resident of Sky Belvedere Society, Viman Nagar). They have been remanded to police custody till August 26.

Aditya Sood provided his own blood instead of his son's, while Ashish Mittal provided his blood as if it were Arunkumar Singh’s son's. The hearing for Arunkumar Singh's anticipatory bail plea took place on Thursday, but the court has yet to issue a decision.

Special Judge U.M. Mudholkar has denied the bail applications of Vishal Surendrakumar Agarwal, his wife Shivani Vishal Agarwal (both residents of Bungalow No. 1, Brahma Suncity, Wadgaon Sheri), Head of Forensic Department at Sassoon Hospital Dr. Ajay Taware, Chief Medical Officer of the Emergency Department Dr. Shrihari Halnor, Ashpak Makandar, and Amar Gaikwad. They are currently lodged in Yerawada Jail.
