Pune: The third edition of the India-Australia joint military exercise, AUSTRAHIND 2024, concluded successfully at the Foreign Training Node in Aundh, Pune.
The closing ceremony featured addresses by Major General KTG Krishnan, General Officer Commanding, 36 RAPID, and Major General David Thomae, Commander of the 2nd Australian Division.
Both commanders praised the participating troops for their dedication and collaborative efforts, which further strengthened military ties between the two nations.
Launched on November 8, 2024, the exercise spanned two weeks of intensive training designed to improve cooperation and interoperability between the Indian Army and the Australian Defence Force.
The exercise reached its climax with a two-day validation phase, conducted from November 19-20.
Indian and Australian troops carried out joint simulated operations in a semi-urban environment, demonstrating expertise in establishing a Temporary Operating Base, intelligence and surveillance operations, heliborne maneuvers, and conducting raids.
The drill also included isolating a hostile area and executing a hostage rescue mission.
AUSTRAHIND 2024 reinforced the strategic military partnership between India and Australia, highlighting their shared commitment to peacekeeping, global stability, and addressing complex security challenges.
The exercise also showcased the exchange of best practices and mutual confidence between the armed forces, marking a significant milestone in bilateral defense cooperation.
