Pune: In response to the brutal assault on two young girls in Badlapur, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Supriya Sule and NCP (SP) Pune city president Prashant Jagtap led a forceful protest, demanding the death penalty for the perpetrator.

The agitation, organized by the Sharad Pawar faction of NCP, also targeted the state government over the police's delay in registering the case and questioned the suspicious role of an institution's head linked to the BJP.

During the protest at Kalakar Katta at Gopal Krushna Gokhale Chowk, near Hotel Goodluck, under the leadership of Supriya Sule and Prashant Jagtap, slogans were raised demanding the resignations of Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar, as well as justice for women.

The entire Deccan area echoed with slogans like "Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar should resign, Shame on the Women's Commission, Provide Safety to Women, and Give the Perpetrators the Death Penalty."

The protest saw participation from various NCP leaders and workers, including Swati Pokale, Bharati Shewale, Kishore Kamble, Asha Sane, Vaishali Thopte, Manali Bhilare, Payal Chavan, Appa Jadhav, Rutuja Deshmukh, Asif Shaikh, Rajashree Patil, Popat Khedekar, Rohan Paigude, Mangaltai Pawar, Rameez Sayed, Dilshad Shaikh, and others.

Meanwhile, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has called for a Maharashtra bandh' on August 24 to protest against the sexual assault on two young girls at Badlapur school. Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) made this announcement on Wednesday (August 21) in Mumbai.
