Pune: A 42-year-old debt recovery manager from Bajaj Finance, Tarun Saxena, allegedly took his own life due to overwhelming work-related stress.

Saxena, who held the position of Regional Manager at Bajaj Finance, left behind a detailed five-page suicide note where he highlighted the extreme pressure he had been under to meet his work targets.

The incident came to light when Tarun’s letter revealed that for the past two months, he had been subjected to immense pressure by his superiors.

According to his note, he had been constantly threatened with salary cuts if he failed to achieve the set targets. The letter further exposed the mental anguish he endured, with Saxena mentioning that he had not slept properly in 45 days and had barely eaten due to stress.

He wrote, "Work pressure has drained me completely. I have not slept or eaten properly in over a month."

Saxena also used his letter to express concern for his family’s future. He requested his loved ones to take care of his wife and children, specifically mentioning provisions for his children's school fees.

He asked his family to complete the construction of the second floor of their home. His final plea included instructions to hold his superiors accountable for the unbearable stress he faced, urging his family to file a police complaint against them.

This incident has once again raised questions about the toxic work culture in corporate environments, particularly in sectors like debt recovery where high targets and intense pressure are common.

Just recently, another case involved Chartered Accountant Anna Sebastian Perayil, who also took her own life due to severe work stress, causing an outcry on social media.

Local authorities in Jhansi, led by senior police officer Vinod Kumar Gautam, have initiated an investigation into the matter. Gautam stated, "The suicide note explicitly mentions pressure from his superiors. We will take appropriate action if the family files a formal complaint."
