Bhosari Assembly Constituency: Discontent in Shiv Sena UBT Faction

Shivraj Sanas

Pune: Resignation of Ajit Gavhane, the city president of the Ajit Pawar faction, and his joining the NCP Sharadchandra Pawar faction along with 25 to 30 supporters, has sparked discontent within the Shiv Sena UBT faction of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

Sulabha Ubale, a prominent leader, expressed her dissatisfaction and demanded that the Bhosari Assembly seat be allocated to the Shiv Sena Thackeray faction, as she is an aspirant for the seat. Despite this, Gavhane affirmed that they would support any candidate nominated by the MVA.

Gavhane’s switch comes as a significant blow to the Ajit Pawar faction, given his strong allegiance to Ajit Pawar. Sulabha Ubale’s discontent stems from Gavhane's involvement in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where he worked for the Mahayuti alliance. Her concerns revolve around Gavhane's potential candidacy for the Bhosari Assembly seat, which she has been preparing for months.

Gavhane had previously campaigned against Shirur MP Amol Kolhe, adding another layer of complexity to his acceptance into the Sharad Pawar group. This has led to frustration among leaders and officials in the Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction.

Gavhane cited the lack of development in the Bhosari constituency as his reason for joining the Sharad Pawar group and reiterated their commitment to supporting the MVA's chosen candidate for the Bhosari Assembly seat. The MVA has not yet finalized its candidate for this constituency.

Amol Kolhe Cancels Public Meeting in Bhosari Following Gavhane’s Switch

Reports suggest that Shirur MP Amol Kolhe is also displeased with Ajit Gavhane’s entry into the Sharad Pawar group. Gavhane had campaigned against Kolhe in the Bhosari Assembly constituency during the recent Lok Sabha elections. This unresolved tension may have contributed to the cancellation of Kolhe’s public meeting in Bhosari, which was scheduled for tomorrow.
