Pune: Rescue operations for the missing four-year-old boy identified as Adnan Ansari, resumed on Monday (July 1) morning. Four members of the Ansari family from Hadapsar had drowned after being swept away in the waterfall behind Bhushi Dam. The incident had occurred around 12:30 PM on Sunday (30th).

The deceased have been identified as Shaista Ansari (37), Amina Salman alias Adil Ansari (13), Maria Ansari (7), and Umera Salman alias Adil Ansari (7). Rescue operations were halted due to darkness on Sunday evening.

The Ansari family was enjoying a day out at the waterfall when sudden water flow swept them away. Heavy rains on Friday and Saturday caused Bhushi Dam to overflow, attracting many tourists. The family was unaware of the heavy rain in the dam's catchment area, leading to the tragic incident.

Rescue efforts by Lonavala City Police, Shivdurg Mitra Lonavala, Wildlife Protection Maval, and INS Shivaji Centre were initiated immediately. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of Shaista Ansari, Amina Ansari, and Umera Ansari by 4:15 PM. Further searches will continue on Monday.

The incident has left the Ansari family from Sayyadnagar, Hadapsar, in deep mourning. Efforts to save each other were in vain, resulting in the tragic loss of three girls and one woman.

The Bhushi Dam, a popular tourist destination in Lonavala, overflowed on Sunday (July 1). With the arrival of the weekend, a large number of tourists flocked to Bhushi Dam. Visitors from Pune, Mumbai, and various parts of Maharashtra came to enjoy the experience of soaking in the dam's waters. Continuous rainfall in Lonavala over the past few days has finally led to the dam overflowing.

Significant crowds are expected at Bhushi Dam in monsoon season, along with other popular spots like Lions Point and Tiger Point in Lonavala, as tourists take advantage of the monsoon season to visit these picturesque locations.
