Bibwewadi Residents Relieved as CM Stops Hill Top Hill Slope De-Reservation

Pune: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has put a hold on the decision to lift the reservation on about seven acres of land in Bibwewadi, which includes three plots on the hill top and hill slope (HTHS) zone.

The order to present a revised proposal was given to the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department, according to MLA Madhuri Misal.

MLA Misal, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, met Chief Minister Shinde to discuss and submit a memorandum on this issue. Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil also attended the meeting.

Chief Minister Shinde promptly ordered the suspension of the proposal to cancel the de-reservation of select plots and directed the Urban Development Department to submit a new proposal to lift the reservation on all land plots in the HTHS zone of Bibwewadi.

MLA Misal thanked Chief Minister Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis for their decision, which aims to provide justice to the poor and middle-class residents of the Parvati constituency.

Local residents had submitted a memorandum to MLA Misal, demanding the cancellation of the hilltop reservation on plots adjacent to the three plots whose reservation was lifted. The Chief Minister's decision marks a successful outcome of Misal's efforts.

The reservation on land in Bibwewadi and surrounding areas was included in the 1987 development plan, even though residents had already built houses on this land.

After continuous protests by the residents against this reservation, the state government had previously suspended it. However, developers had requested the lifting of the reservation on 11 plots they owned in the same area.

The state government sought feedback from the Pune Municipal Corporation, which provided a positive opinion for lifting the reservation on the three select plots.

Consequently, the government decided to lift the reservation. A meeting of local residents followed, where they demanded MLA Misal to lift the reservation on all residential plots.
