Pimpalwandi: Bird Week is celebrated every year from November 5 to 12. The main objective of this week is to create awareness about birds as well as the biodiversity here.

Birds are beautiful and attractive creatures of nature. We all love their charm because of their different shapes, colors, sounds and ability to fly.

Birds contribute to our ecosystem in many ways, so it is important to protect and conserve them. Bird Day is a day to remind them of their importance.

Known as the father of ornithology in India. Bird Day is celebrated in India on November 12, the birth anniversary of Salim Ali. He devoted his entire life to the study of birds. He collected information on various birds in India and wrote several books. His work led to a movement of bird watching in India.

"We can do bird watching as a hobby of entertainment and it creates a passion for going to nature and understanding nature," said Akash Dolas, a wildlife researcher and wildlife photographer from Junnar. There is no age limit for bird watching at any age.

Having a Merlin app on a book or mobile phone is enough to identify the birds while watching birds. And if you have a good telescope or camera, you can identify birds better. Also, if you carry a notebook with you, you can write down the observations of the new looking party.

The best time for bird watching is in the morning and evening. While doing this, it is best to wear clothes that are in harmony with nature. Don't interfere with anything about the parties. That means if they have chicks, nests or food, they shouldn't be tampered with.

Binoculars or cameras should be used, but only with a proper distance, the parties should not feel threatened. We can keep our voices low. Talk to those with you with a gesture. Keep a record of proper observations from time to time.

While observing birds, it is important to keep records of certain habits of them that we can see. Just as the bird is always seen, what part of the tree it always uses, and if it is building a nest, in what season it builds the nest and what things it uses to build the nest, all the birds seen and identified should be recorded.

Bird protection:
The reasons for the decline in bird populations are the need to find solutions to the problems of habitat destruction, pollution, poaching and encroachment. We can help the birds by doing the following.
* Plant trees, protect nature.
* Don't hunt birds, don't harm their eggs.
* Try to reduce pollution.
* Support organizations working for bird conservation.
* Observe birds

More than 250 birds have been recorded in Junnar and a large number of birds can be seen in Junnar taluka. Junnar's nature is full of diversity. There are wetlands, forests, and meadows. We all have a responsibility to protect the habitat of these birds, said Akash Dolas, bird watcher and wildlife photographer.
