Pune: In an effort to tackle the escalating issue of traffic congestion in Pune, a delegation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met with Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil and Deputy Commissioner of the Traffic Department Rohidas Pawar on Saturday (August 3).
The continuous rainfall has intensified the traffic jams in the city, causing long queues of vehicles on several roads. The meeting explored possible solutions, the police's current efforts, and how the BJP can assist in alleviating the problems faced by Pune's residents.
The BJP delegation stressed the need for traffic police to be visibly regulating traffic at various points in the city. They called for an active presence of traffic wardens and emphasized that drivers should maintain a respectful fear of the authorities.
Furthermore, the BJP will deploy 500 volunteers to assist the police in heavily congested areas. This initiative aims to facilitate traffic management with the support of these workers. A detailed plan for this collaboration will soon be prepared by the police.
Additional CP Manoj Patil provided a detailed presentation on the current and upcoming measures being taken by the police to address traffic congestion.
He outlined both immediate and long-term strategies. The delegation members received comprehensive and satisfactory responses to their questions.
The meeting included all party officials and former councilors from the city. After almost an hour of discussion, the police assured the delegation that immediate steps would be taken to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the situation for Pune's residents.
