Pune: The first boarding pass at the new terminal of Pune Airport will be issued by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol. To mark the inauguration, an Air India passenger will receive this boarding pass at 1 PM on July 14, officially commencing operations at the new terminal.

After much anticipation, Pune Airport's new terminal is finally set to open. With the deployment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, the technical processes are nearing completion. Minister Mohol announced on July 8 that the new terminal will be operational from Sunday (July 14).

The new terminal required additional CISF personnel for its operation. Minister Mohol met with Home Minister Amit Shah to expedite this process, resulting in the prompt deployment of CISF personnel to Pune Airport. With their arrival, the final technical processes have been initiated and are progressing swiftly.

Union Minister Mohol stated that the CISF personnel have arrived at Pune Airport and the installation of the in-line baggage system in the new terminal is complete.

The remaining technical procedures are being fast-tracked to ensure timely completion. This paves the way for the new terminal to become operational. From July 14, the new terminal will be available to serve the people of Pune.

Pune Airport's new terminal expects an annual traffic of over 1 crore passengers, almost ten lakh more than the old terminal. The airport administration plans to convert the arrival gate at the old terminal into a departure gate and add 15 additional check-in counters.

Initially, only two airlines, Air India and Air India Express, will operate from the new terminal, limiting passenger numbers at first. However, once T2 operates at full capacity and during peak seasons, the lack of adequate infrastructure will likely result in persistent congestion and long queues.
