Pune: In a major breakthrough, the Pune police have apprehended three suspects in connection with the gang rape incident that occurred last week at Bopdev Ghat.

According to reports, two of the accused were arrested in Nagpur, while the third was taken into custody in Pune. The suspects had been on the run since the incident, but crucial leads surfaced in the investigation, leading to their capture by the Pune Police Crime Branch.

The police had been actively pursuing the case and received key information about the whereabouts of the accused, who had managed to evade capture for over a week.

On the night of the crime, CCTV footage captured three suspicious men purchasing alcohol from a liquor store in the Yewalewadi area, which provided the police with vital evidence. One of the suspects was identified and detained based on this footage.

Although the arrests have been made, the Pune police have yet to make an official statement regarding the detentions. It is expected that further details about the case will be released later today as the investigation progresses.

The horrifying incident took place on Thursday (October 3) night when a 21-year-old college girl, who had gone for an evening walk with her friend in the Bopdev Ghat area, was brutally gang-raped by three men who threatened her with a knife.
