Cement Mixer Hits and Kills Woman Attempting to Cross Divider in Kothrud

Pune: A tragic road accident occurred Wednesday (October 9) morning in Kothrud, resulting in the death of a young woman after she was hit by a speeding cement mixer.

The victim has been identified as Aarti Suresh Manwane (23). Aarti was attempting to cross the road by climbing over a divider when the incident took place near the Kothrud bus stand at around 9 a.m.

Aarti Manwane, originally from Amravati and residing at Erande Hostel in Bhelke Nagar, Kothrud, was crossing Karve Road, which has a large divider extending from Karve statue to Dahanukar Colony.

As she was trying to cross the divider in front of the Sutar bus stop, a cement mixer approached at high speed from Dahanukar Colony and hit her.

The impact caused Aarti to fall, and tragically, the mixer’s wheel ran over her head, leading to her death on the spot. The driver of the cement mixer briefly halted the vehicle but then fled the scene.

Police arrived at the site of the accident shortly after being informed. Officers from Alankar Police Station are currently investigating the incident. Efforts are underway to locate the driver of the cement mixer, who remains at large.

Recently, a 32-year-old woman from Wagholi, lost her life after a speeding dumper struck the two-wheeler she was riding with her husband. The accident took place on the Pune-Nagar Highway near Chitale Sweet Home around 9:45 AM on Sunday (October 6).

The woman, identified as Sirichandana Vishwanath Hewattam, a resident of Nyati Elan, was killed instantly after falling under the rear wheels of the dumper.
