Pune: Recent photographs circulating on social media depicting cracks in the base of the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj statue have raised concerns. In response, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh has clarified the situation.
The statue, which is currently under construction in Moshi, is being placed at the site allotted by PMRDA to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation at the International Exhibition Center, Sector 5 and 8.
The 100-foot bronze statue of Dharmveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is being crafted by the renowned sculptor Ram Sutar, with the statue being produced at a foundry in Delhi.
The design and structural aspects of the statue are being executed according to the approved plans from IIT Mumbai.
PCMC Commissioner Singh explained that while some parts of the statue have been transported from Delhi to Pimpri-Chinchwad and are currently in Moshi, the actual assembly of the statue has not yet commenced. The current photos showing cracks pertain to the base work, which is still in progress.
The final assembly will include the integration of bronze joints and other necessary procedures, which will be overseen by IIT Mumbai experts.
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh urged the public not to be swayed by these circulating rumors, emphasizing that the work on the statue is ongoing and not yet completed.
He reassured citizens that the project is under careful supervision and that any perceived issues are part of the ongoing construction process.
