Pune: A major cleanliness drive was conducted at Chinchwad Railway Station as part of an initiative by the Chinchwad Passengers Association to improve hygiene at railway stations and trains in the Pune-Lonavala region.

College students from Pratibha College actively participated in the drive, which focused on cleaning the platforms, reservation center, and the western ticket office area at the station.

In response to a call made by Chinchwad Railway Station Manager Mathew George, the cleanliness campaign was joined by 60 National Service Scheme (NSS) student volunteers, led by Professor Sukhlal Kumbhar and Professor Supriya Gaikwad.

The event also featured participation from the Late Smt. Darubai Social Foundation, represented by Nirmala Mane and Dadasaheb Mane.

Chinchwad Passengers Association member Mukesh Chudasama, along with station staff R. K. Tambe, Manohar Bodke, Arvind Kumar, and Kiran Lagad, were present to assist in the campaign.

During the event, the dignitaries urged citizens to maintain cleanliness in local and express trains as well as railway stations across the Pune-Lonavala corridor, emphasizing the importance of treating public spaces with the same care as their homes.

Professor Kumbhar, Dr. Deepak Shah, and Principal Dr. Arun Kumar Walunj shared their thoughts, highlighting the significance of community participation in such cleanliness drives.

Mathew George, the station manager, commended the efforts of the students and volunteers in helping to keep the railway station clean.
