Pune: A 19-year-old college student was brutally attacked and robbed while taking an evening walk with his friend in the Baner Hill area of Pune.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday (September 28) and has raised concerns about safety in the area, which has witnessed similar robberies in recent months.

The victim, Pijendai Kamei, originally from Nagaland and currently residing in Old Sangvi, filed a complaint at the Chatuhshrungi Police Station.

According to Kamei, he and his friend were walking along Baner Hill when they were accosted by four individuals. The assailants, armed with a weapon, severely beat Kamei and attacked his leg. After rendering him injured and defenseless, they stole valuables worth ₹20,000 before fleeing the scene.

This incident is not the first of its kind in the Baner-Pashan area, where multiple cases of robberies have been reported in recent months. The Chatuhshrungi Police, led by Sub-Inspector Pravin Chougule, have launched an investigation and are actively searching for the culprits.

Locals have expressed concern over the rising crime rate in the area and have demanded increased police patrolling.

In a separate incident on Sunday night, a 20-year-old security guard was attacked and robbed near the Kharadi Toll Naka on Nagar Road. The victim, identified as Akash Babasaheb Aghale, was on his way to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar when four robbers on a motorcycle approached him around midnight.

The robbers asked Akash for tobacco, and when he informed them that he did not use it, they struck him on the head with a hammer. They then stole his bag and fled the scene.

Akash filed a complaint at the Chandan Nagar Police Station, and Assistant Police Inspector Dattatray Ligade is leading the investigation. The police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and are working on leads to apprehend the suspects.
