Pune: A shocking robbery took place in Hanuman Tekdi area on Senapati Bapat Road, where a college student was robbed of his gold chain worth ₹70,000 at knifepoint.

The victim, Sairaj Anil Bhand, and his friend were attacked by two unidentified men while spending time at the hill area on Saturday (October 5) afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3:15 pm when two men approached Sairaj and his friend, Atharva Diddi, near the pagoda at Hanuman Tekdi. The assailants began verbally abusing the pair before escalating the situation.

One of the robbers struck Sairaj on the head with the handle of a knife and quickly snatched the gold chain from his neck. The robbers then fled the scene, leaving Sairaj injured.

After the attack, Sairaj lodged a complaint with the Deccan Police Station. The police have registered a case against the two suspects and are actively searching for them.

Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Bhosale is heading the investigation into the case. The incident has raised concerns over safety in public spaces, especially in relatively remote areas like Hanuman Tekdi.

Just two weeks ago, a similar incident occurred at Baner Tekdi, where a college student was assaulted and robbed by unknown individuals. These incidents highlight the need for better security in hill and ghat areas around Pune.

In another related case, two young men were robbed at knifepoint near the Katraj Tunnel while on their morning walk. Shubham Devaram Taru and his friend Vikas Bhujbal were walking in the Katraj Ghat area early Saturday morning when robbers on a motorcycle stopped them.

The attackers threatened the pair with a knife and fled after snatching two mobile phones worth ₹60,000. A case has been registered at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, and Sub-Inspector Nilesh Mokashi is leading the investigation.
