College Student Takes Drastic Step, Jumps into Khadakwasla Dam

Pune: In a tragic incident at Khadakwasla Dam in Pune, a 22-year-old college student, Sahil Sanjay Kumar, ended his life by jumping into the dam's waters. The event has left his family devastated.

According to reports, Sahil took a selfie near the dam before his fatal act and sent the image to his relatives via WhatsApp. Shortly after receiving the photo, the family tried to reach out, but Sahil had already taken the drastic step.

Upon being informed, the local police, along with a search team, rushed to the scene. After a four-hour operation, Sahil's body was recovered from the dam.

The reason behind Sahil's decision to take his own life remains unclear, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.

In a tragic incident in May 2023, a 21-year-old man, Aniket Sunil Alhat from Narhe, ended his life by jumping into the Khadakwasla Dam. Before taking this extreme step, Aniket sent a farewell message to a friend via social media, indicating his intention and asking not to hold anyone responsible.

The friend alerted Aniket’s family, who, unable to reach him due to his phone being turned off, reported him missing at Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station. The exact reason behind Aniket’s decision remains a mystery.

In October 2023, a 34-year-old painter, Swapnil Rambhau Kanse, from Shivane, Pune, tragically ended his life by jumping into Khadakwasla Dam. Known for his struggles with alcohol, Swapnil often had disputes with his family, which escalated into an argument the day before the incident.

When Swapnil failed to return home, his worried mother filed a missing person report with Uttamnagar Police. The next day, workers from the Irrigation Department found Swapnil's body floating in the dam, bringing a sorrowful end to the search.
