Pune: The Crime Branch Unit 3 team has arrested two criminals who were exiled for two years from Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Pune district but were found moving freely in the city, violating their banishment orders.

The first criminal, Abhijit alias Chaukhya Tukaram Yelwande, aged 26, is a known member of the Gaja Marne gang. Yelwande, along with 18 others from the same gang, was originally exiled by Pune police in 2017 during the municipal elections.

Recently, on August 28, 2024, he was exiled again by Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam for a period of two years. Despite the restriction, Yelwande was found roaming in the Warje Malwadi area, where he was apprehended by police officers Pratik More and Ganesh Shinde.

He was later handed over to the Warje Malwadi police for further legal proceedings.

The second individual, Khandu alias Paddy Maruti Mhetre, 22, was also arrested after violating his two-year banishment, which began on June 9, 2024.

Mhetre was found in Shivkrupa Apartment, Happy Colony, Wadgaon Budruk, during a police check conducted by constables Ganesh Sutar and Vinod Jadhav. He was subsequently handed over to the Sinhagad Road police station for further action.

Both arrests were carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle and Assistant Police Commissioner Ganesh Ingle, with the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Rangrao Pawar and his team from Unit 3.
