Pune: Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Pune district has seen a swift response to violations of the model code of conduct, with a total of 333 complaints filed through the Election Commission’s cVigil app.

The app, designed to allow citizens and voters to report violations, facilitated prompt action on 301 complaints within the first 100 minutes, as confirmed by District Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Suhas Divase.

The Election Commission introduced the cVigil app to streamline the process of handling complaints related to code violations, allowing citizens to directly submit instances of misconduct.

Available on both Android and iOS, the app empowers users to report any irregularities with ease. Upon opening the app, users can choose the type of violation, detail the incident, and upload supporting images or video from the location, ensuring comprehensive information is provided.

The first response to complaints is generally initiated within 100 minutes of submission.

In total, Pune district residents have lodged 352 complaints on the app, with actions already taken on 333 of these.

By constituency, Ambegaon recorded 5 complaints; Baramati, 12; Bhosari, 1; Chinchwad, 6; Daund, 4; Hadapsar, 3; Indapur, 1; Junnar, 3; Kasba Peth, 28; Khadakwasla, 5; Maval, 6; Parvati, 61; Pimpri, 2; Pune Cantonment, 20; Shivajinagar, 7; and Wadgaon Sheri, the highest, with 137 complaints. All 301 complaints received prompt action within 100 minutes of filing.

Ensuring citizen anonymity, the district administration guarantees that the identities of those filing complaints remain confidential, maintaining trust and encouraging public participation in monitoring election conduct.
