Pune: The menace of cybercriminals posing as investigators continues to escalate, with a recent shocking case emerging in Pune. A woman was subjected to sexual assault by cybercriminals who deceived her into believing she was involved in a serious drug smuggling case.

A woman has filed a complaint at the Vishrambag police station regarding the incident. Based on her complaint, a case has been filed against the cybercriminals. The complainant works at an IT company.

The criminals, pretending that drugs were found in a package sent under the woman's name at the airport, forced her to disrobe under the pretense of thermal imaging.

The cybercriminals contacted her on her mobile number, claiming that a package being sent in her name to Malaysia contained a fake passport, ATM card, and drugs. They then began to threaten her, saying she would be arrested because of the drugs found in the package.

The woman informed them that she had no connection to the package. The cybercriminals told her she would need a clearance certificate from the police.

Pretending to be from the Vasant Kunj police station in Delhi, the criminals instructed the woman to deposit money into a bank account. She sent 2,22,000 rupees online to the criminals' account.

Later, the cybercriminals contacted her again, claiming that she had hidden drugs in her body and that thermal imaging was required. The criminals made a video call to her and forced her to undress, according to the woman's complaint. Inspector Arun Ghode of the Crime Branch is investigating the case.
