Pune Traffic Police have announced significant traffic restrictions in the city in light of the Atharvashirsha recitation event organized by Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganpati Trust, which draws large crowds during the Ganesh festival.

The traffic changes on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, effective from 5:00 AM on September 8 until the religious event concludes, exclude emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, and police vehicles.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Amol Zhende, issued a formal order outlining the specific road closures and alternate routes that have been designated for smoother traffic flow and to accommodate the large influx of devotees.

The major roads affected include Chhatrapati Shivaji Road, where vehicular movement will be halted from Jijamata Chowk to Rameshwar Mandir Chowk.

Similarly, Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk will also see restrictions, with alternate routes being provided to ease congestion. In addition, Laxmi Road traffic will be diverted as necessary from Vijay Maruti Chowk and Sonya Maruti Chowk.

Alternate routes have been planned, including detours via Gadgil Statue, Ganesh Road, and Maharana Pratap Road for those traveling towards Swargate. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance and adhere to the alternate routes to avoid any inconvenience.

The Pune Traffic Police Department has urged the public to cooperate with these arrangements to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration of Ganeshotsav while maintaining traffic flow.
