Pune: A case has been registered against seven individuals, including two brothers, who stormed into a private financial institution's office in Daund and threatened the branch manager with a sickle. Among the suspects are an online gambling center operator and a former municipal councilor.
Inspector Santosh Doke of Daund Police Station provided information about the incident. The incident occurred at Shriram Finance Office near the Yes Bank branch on the Daund-Gopalwadi Road at noon on July 26.
Claiming that a loan recovery representative from the finance company had used extremely offensive language over the phone, Amit Baravkar and his relatives barged into the Shriram Finance office.
Branch Manager Bhushan Devkate confirmed that no one from their office had used offensive language and advised them to check with the headquarters.
Infuriated by this, Sanjay Bhimrao Baravkar brandished an iron sickle at Bhushan Devkate and threatened, "Let’s see how you open the office tomorrow, I will strike the one who opens the office in the head with this sickle."
After threatening the branch manager, Amit Baravkar, Sanjay Baravkar, and others came out and brandished the sickle in front of other employees, threatening to kill them, according to the complaint.
Based on Bhushan Devkate's complaint, a case has been registered against Sanjay Bhimrao Baravkar, Rajendra alias Raju Bhimrao Baravkar, Amit Baravkar, Nagnath Govind Bhagat (all residents of Daund), and three others, totaling seven individuals.
Inspector Santosh Doke informed that Rajendra Bhimrao Baravkar is a former nominated municipal councilor and former chairman of the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Anudan Yojana Committee for Daund Taluka.
Additionally, Sanjay Baravkar and Nagnath Bhagat have previous cases registered against them related to online gambling.
