Dheeraj Ghate Vs Hemant Rasane Poster War Erupts in Kasba Constituency

Pune: As the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, political activities in Pune are intensifying, with the BJP focusing on securing its hold over the crucial Kasba assembly constituency.

Following the recent by-election defeat, a fierce contest has emerged among party hopefuls, with key leaders positioning themselves for candidacy. The party is also engaging in a systematic internal selection process to gauge local leaders' opinions.

Among the prominent names vying for the Kasba seat are Hemant Rasane, the former Chairman of the Standing Committee, and Dheeraj Ghate, the current Pune BJP City President.

Rasane, who was the BJP's candidate in the Kasba by-election, is once again in the race, having played a significant role as election in-charge even after the party's by-election loss. He has focused on resolving local issues and expanding outreach efforts through various community programs.

Meanwhile, Ghate, a prominent city leader, has also thrown his hat into the ring, backed by strong support from his followers.

The rivalry between Rasane and Ghate has sparked a “poster war” across social media platforms, with their supporters actively promoting their candidates. Both factions are vying for attention as the BJP leadership in Pune seeks to finalize its candidate for the upcoming Assembly election.

Today, in a significant development, party observers visited the Kasba constituency to gather feedback from local office bearers. This consultation process required the submission of three preferred names in sealed envelopes, reflecting the views of city, state, and regional BJP leaders.

These sealed envelopes will be opened at the party’s regional headquarters, where the final decision on the Kasba candidate will be made based on several factors, including the party’s internal survey and the candidates' performance in the constituency.

Apart from Rasane and Ghate, other potential candidates include Kunal Tilak, son of the late MLA Mukta Tilak, and Swarda Bapat, daughter-in-law of the late MP Girish Bapat.

The final decision is expected to balance public sentiment, local leadership, and overall party strategy as the BJP works to reclaim this key constituency.
