Pune: A milk tanker overturned in Dive Ghat around 7 a.m. Saturday morning after grazing a PMT bus, resulting in minor injuries to several youths who were practicing for police recruitment nearby. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in the incident.

The accident occurred when a milk tanker, heading toward Wadki, collided with a PMPML bus traveling in the opposite direction toward Saswad.

On a sharp bend in the ghat, the tanker driver lost control, causing the tanker to graze against the PMT bus before veering toward the hillside. The vehicle then attempted a U-turn before finally tipping over on the edge of the cliff.

Local residents Praveen Modak, Shivaji Kalane, Mukesh Undre, and Harish More were quick to respond, providing assistance to the injured and coordinating an ambulance to transport them to Chintamani Hospital in Saswad. The police were also notified and arrived promptly at the scene to investigate.

On October 23, a landslide had occurred in Dive Ghat disrupting traffic but causing no injuries. Heavy rainfall in the region has activated mountain springs, making the soil slippery and prone to landslides.

The incident occurred on the third bend while traveling from Wadki towards Saswad. As a safety precaution, trenches had been dug along the mountainside, but the magnitude of the landslide brought large rocks onto the road, blocking one lane.
