Pune: Dr. Ajay Taware, the former head of the Forensic Medicine Department at Sassoon Hospital, will face further questioning in connection with the blood sample tampering case related to the Kalyaninagar Porsche car accident.

The Pune Crime Branch has received court approval to interrogate Dr. Taware in Yerawada Jail to gather additional evidence and link the information provided by other accused in the case. This comes as the police prepare to file a supplementary chargesheet.

The case centers on a minor who was involved in the accident. Investigations revealed that attempts were made to protect the minor by tampering with his blood sample.

Two weeks ago, a 900-page chargesheet was filed, naming several individuals, including Dr. Taware, who is alleged to have played a key role in the tampering.

According to the investigation, builder Vishal Agarwal facilitated the connection between Dr. Taware and Dr. Shrihari Halnor through a retired Public Works Department officer.

Dr. Halnor, acting on instructions from Dr. Taware, replaced the blood samples of the minor and his friends for financial gain. Dr. Halnor reportedly received ₹2.5 lakhs, while another accomplice, Ghatakamble, received ₹50,000.

The investigation further revealed that the blood sample provided for testing was actually that of Vishal Agarwal's wife, Shivani, rather than the minor involved in the accident.

The police have accused the parties involved of tampering with evidence, misleading the investigation, and obstructing justice. Dr. Taware is considered equally responsible as Dr. Halnor in the blood tampering scheme.

The Agarwal family allegedly paid ₹4 lakhs for the tampering, with ₹3 lakhs going to Ghatakamble. However, ₹1 lakh remains unaccounted for, and further investigation is focused on Dr. Taware's role in the case.

The police have concluded that Dr. Taware was directly and actively involved, receiving significant financial and other benefits from those involved.
