Pune: Shiv Sena leader and Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council, Dr. Neelam Gorhe, visited the police check-post set up in the Bopdev Ghat area to assess the existing security measures.

During her visit, Dr. Gorhe interacted with the police officers stationed at the post and took a detailed review of the infrastructure and safety arrangements in place.

She directed the police department to take necessary precautions to avoid any untoward incidents in the future. Highlighting the dangers posed by the lack of lighting in the ghat area, she stressed the immediate need for the installation of streetlights.

"There is a dire need to install streetlights on the dark roads in the ghat. I will be following up with the energy department, municipal corporation, and the police department to ensure this issue is addressed," Dr. Gorhe stated.

Furthermore, Dr. Gorhe assured that efforts would be made to improve facilities for the police personnel posted at the Bopdev Ghat station.

She emphasized the importance of installing mobile toilets for the convenience of officers, fitting security grills on the windows of the police post, and enhancing mobile network connectivity in the area. These measures are crucial to improving working conditions for the officers and ensuring their safety and well-being.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, Dr. Gorhe highlighted the need for preventive measures against juvenile crime. "To prevent juvenile crime, we must focus on education and training. This will help guide children on the right path and reduce criminal tendencies," she said.

Dr. Gorhe expressed satisfaction with the current security arrangements in the area, commending the police administration for installing searchlights and utilizing loudspeakers to make public announcements.

She also praised the efforts of the patrolling teams who maintain vigilance in the area to ensure public safety.
