Drones, Divers Deployed to Search for Decapitated Woman's Body Parts in Kharadi Riverbed

Shivraj Sanas

Pune police have decided to use drone cameras to scan a 100-kilometer stretch of Mula-Mutha riverbed and deploy divers to assist in locating the severed parts of the decapitated woman, who was found in the riverbed at Kharadi.

The search efforts are facing challenges due to the release of water from the Khadakwasla Dam following recent rainfall in the region, making it difficult to conduct a thorough investigation in the river.

To aid in the search, police are examining CCTV footage from the ghats along the river and are also gathering information about missing young women from the city in recent days. The identity of the deceased woman is yet to be established, but she is believed to be between 18 and 30 years old.

Chandannagar Police Station has registered a case, and Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar visited the station to review the investigation's progress.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the murderer may have attempted to dispose of the body in the river after releasing water from the dam to erase evidence.

Police suspect that the body might have drifted from the Khadakwasla area, which could provide critical leads in the case. The police have also announced cash reward of one lakh rupees for any leads to confirm the identity of the deceased woman or the perpetrators.

Police have urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities or information related to the case to local authorities.
