Dumper Driver Arrested Within 24 Hours After Fatal Accident in Wagholi

Although no CCTV cameras captured the actual moment of impact, police were able to trace the vehicle using earlier footage of the two-wheeler and the dumper.

Pune: Within 24 hours of the fatal accident in Wagholi, in which 32-year-old woman had died on spot, Lonikand police arrested the dumper driver who had fled from the spot.

Despite the lack of direct CCTV footage capturing the accident, the Lonikand police swiftly launched an investigation and apprehended the driver.

The arrested individual has been identified as Anil Ashok Mudalkar (32), a resident of Bhavdi Road in Wagholi. The dumper involved in the incident is owned by Vikas Popat Kolekar (35), a resident of Manjari Road, Hadapsar.

The tragic road accident that occurred on Sunday (October 6) morning around 9:45 AM in front of Chitale Sweet Home, resulted in the death of Siri Chandana Chinta, while her husband, Vishwanath, sustained injuries.

The dumper driver responsible for the accident fled the scene immediately after the collision. Vishwanath Hebbatam, residing in Nyati Elan Society, Bakori Phata, Wagholi, filed a formal complaint with the police.

According to the police, although no CCTV cameras captured the actual moment of impact, they were able to trace the vehicle using earlier footage of the two-wheeler and the dumper. A detailed search of CCTV footage from the area eventually led to the identification of the dumper and its driver.

The arrest was made under the direction of Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad, who led a team from Lonikand Police Station in investigating the case. Further legal proceedings are underway.
