Pune: An argument between a bus driver and an elderly passenger turned violent, resulting in the passenger being assaulted and left bleeding.

The incident occurred on a PMPML (Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited) bus operating on the Civil Court to Narhegaon route, which saw tensions boil over into physical aggression.

According to reports, the situation escalated when a driver, who was off-duty and heading home, was standing near the front door of the bus as it reached the Hingne bus stop.

At that time, an elderly passenger also standing nearby engaged in an argument with the driver. What began as a verbal dispute soon turned violent, and the driver assaulted the elderly man, striking him on the head.

As a result, the passenger sustained a severe injury, and blood began flowing from his head.

Witnesses were horrified as the situation unfolded. Fortunately, the on-duty bus driver, Devaram Shinde, and conductor, Vikas Benkar, quickly took control of the situation.

Realizing the gravity of the injury, they diverted the bus to the nearest medical facility, Jagtap Hospital, where the elderly passenger was admitted for emergency treatment. Medical staff confirmed that the injury was severe enough to require stitches to the head.

Meanwhile, the driver responsible for the assault fled the scene immediately after the attack.

The police were notified and are actively searching for the absconding driver. A formal complaint was registered at the Abhiruchi Police Outpost.
