The Election Commission of India announced on October 16 that the Maharashtra Assembly elections will take place in a single phase for all 288 constituencies on November 20, while Jharkhand will conduct its elections in two phases on November 13 and November 20.

The counting of votes in both states will be held on November 23. Following the announcement of election dates, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in both states.

The Income Tax Department’s initiative to monitor and address election-related financial malpractices is seen as a significant move to promote transparency and fairness in the democratic process. The department has urged citizens to be vigilant and to report any instances of financial misconduct.
